The ministry and work of evangelism is at the heart of pilgrim discipleship. Jesus calls the Christian Church to do the work of evangelism. Evangelism is the mission of the United Methodist Church. Clearly stated, “the mission of the United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.”
Martha Grace Reese in her book, “Unbinding the Gospel,” is must reading for any pilgrim disciple who is serious about the ministry and work of evangelism. In reporting on her research, Reese noted that “our most important discovery is that a vivid relationship with God lies at the heart of real evangelism.” It is a matter of knowing that one’s life is better off because of one’s relationship with God, and wanting others to benefit from such a relationship.
Has being a Christian made any difference in your life? If so, you will want to share that reality with other people.
Reese says that “evangelism is about relationships.” She is right. What do you think?
Are you ready to unbind the Gospel of Jesus Christ? Are you ready to loose your stammering tongue and share your faith in Jesus Christ with other people?
The Gospel of Jesus Christ should not be placed in hiding, The Gospel is Good News and people want to hear good news. We have Good News.
Jesus is the answer to all of life’s situations, through a growing relationship with God.
Are you ready to tell someone about this Good News?
